Dornback Furnace & Foundry Company

Dornback Hardware and Plumbing Company was founded on August 15, 1907, in Cleveland, Ohio. W. H. Dornback Sr. ran it as a one man hardware store and did plumbing jobs at night after the store closed. As business grew, Mr. Dornback added boiler installations to his line.

In 1923, Mr. Dornback added sales and installation of home heating equipment; mostly coal fired at that time. In 1937, he purchased more property and opened a cast iron foundry, making repair parts for all makes of coal furnaces. In 1939, the first Cleveland Dornback gas furnace, a gravity with a fabricated, welded heat exchanger, was designed and was certified by the American Gas Association. In the late 1940's, Dornbacks became a major supplier to the Sears Roebuck Company under their trade name "Homart"

Now, nearly 100 years later, Dornback Furnace Division is a major manufacturer of warm air furnaces, air conditioning equipment and accessories with sales in 50 states, and around the world.
